Searching for Something Rare, Beautiful and Valuable
I am searching for something that is rare, beautiful and valuable and I always have been.
It’s the holiday season and this time of year always reminds me of growing up in small town Alabama. My hometown was not near as small as where I loved to spend my school breaks – LaFayette, Alabama. It was forty-five minutes away, in the county, and my cousins lived there. My cousins and I would go exploring in the woods. We loved exploring old shacks because we always hoped to find things that were rare, beautiful and valuable. Most of the things we found were junk and trash, but we never gave up hope and we have continued to search.
I also get a little mixed up during the holiday season. I don’t know if any of you have this problem or not, but I seem to lose all track of time. My schedule gets all messed up with all the hustle and bustle of this time of year. This year with all the Covid stuff going on it seems to be even worse than other years. Until about 5:30pm today, I didn’t even know what day of the week it was. I did realize that it was January 1st, and we are in a new year, but the day of the week was a blur.
We did not have a required Master Key Experience webinar last Sunday because it was two days after Christmas and a lot of people would be traveling. When we last met, we were given an assignment to write a movie review. That movie review was to be written in week 14. I got totally confused about what they meant by “week 14.” It could have been counted as last week or this week depending on how you looked at it.
I made up my mind that “week 14” meant last week and it made perfect sense to me when I decided it. Perfect sense until I reviewed the chat from our last webinar that made it clear that it was due this week. That being said, I wrote my movie review last week. Just a little off, but better early than late.
Every month we read a scroll / chapter in a book three times a day. We read that scroll / chapter for one month and then we move on to the one. Today we started “The Scroll Marked IV” and I was struck by the words I read.
“I am a unique creature of nature. I am rare, and there is value in all rarity; therefore, I am valuable.”
Og Mandino – The Greatest Salesman in the World
I Found Something Rare, Beautiful and Valuable
The reason those phrases hit me so hard was because yesterday I received a small plaque as a Christmas gift from my best friend which says, “How Rare and Beautiful You Are.” Here are two things saying to me that I am rare. Rare, beautiful and valuable.
Whenever God has a message for me to hear, it seems that He says it to me in multiple ways several different times. Here was God telling me that I am a rare and precious creation of His and He counts me as rare, beautiful and valuable. I no longer have to continue to search for something rare, beautiful and valuable because I have found it. It is me! I am rare, beautiful and valuable. What a great message to receive on this first day of the new year!
I wish you all a Very Happy New Year and in case no one has told you, you are a unique creature of nature. You are rare, beautiful and valuable!

Happy New Year… I’ve got to get on the ball and get my blog done this week… I’ve been waiting for the movie I was going to review (from Netflix), but have yet to receive it, so I will just review one off the list which I’ve watched before.
Wishing you the very best, all year long!
Linda, what a nice gift from your best friend. YOU ARE RARE, BEAUTFUL, AND VALUABLE. From your blog rover friend John.
